Students active in Council elections’ candidacy filing!

Nominations for the JAMKO elections have closed. A total of 8 alliances were formed during the nomination period, which were confirmed by the Central Electoral Committee at its meeting on 28 September. All together 61 candidates stood by the deadline. In addition, an electoral ring was formed between two electoral alliances, the JAMKO Punavihreät and the Jyväskylän Keskustaopiskelijat.

The final composition of the electoral lists and the official number of candidates will be published in week 40 after candidates’ eligibility has been confirmed. Each candidate must be a member of JAMKO from 1 October.

“There are many more candidates than in previous years and it’s great that students are interested in promoting common causes. It’s great to see a lot of international students involved too. It should be an interesting election,” says Meri Korri, the Chairperson of the Central Electoral Committee
