Membership terms: Who can get a student card?
All students enrolled as attending at Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences can be members of the Student Union. The Student Union can also accept other Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences students as members. Resignation from membership, termination of membership and other matters related to membership are specified in more detail in the rules of the Student Union.
The student has to fulfill all of the following criteria:
- You are studying in Jamk.
- You are enrolled as attending for the academic year/term.
- You become a member of student union JAMKO.
In addition
- JAMKO’s membership and student card are available only for students studying at Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.
- Please note that you are responsible for providing accurate information, and misuse of the card is a punishable act.
- Your ID will be checked when the new student card is handed over, so you must have your ID with you when picking up the card.
- The card may not be delivered without liability if the image or text on the card is against good manners or does not represent the person who ordered the card.
- You agree that your personal information, your right to study and your eligibility for membership will be verified from the student and study register of the University of applied sciences, and later from the national databases. You give permission to use your social security number or other unique identifier that can be used for verification.
- Your data can be stored in the CRM member register and can be processed. Your data may be disclosed to the following Students’ Unions:

- The Student Union of Diaconia University of Applied Sciences O’Diako
- The Student Union of Haaga-Helia – Helga
- Student Union of Humak University of Applied Sciences HUMAKO
- The Student Union of Laurea University of Applied Sciences Laureamko

- The student union of the Turku University of Applied Sciences – TUO
- Student Union of JAMK University of Applied Sciences – JAMKO
- Your data can be transferred between the CRM member register, online store, VIRTA/KOSKI database, student ID and other systems necessary for the activities of the Students’ Union.
When can I become a member or continue my membership?
Memberships for the next academic years and autumn term will be available on our webshop from 1st June onwards. Memberships for the spring term will be available from 9th of December onwards. Please note, that JAMKO office opening hours may differ.
IF YOU ARE A NEW STUDENT
You can become a member once you have accepted your offer of admission in the national MyStudyinfo service, enrolled as an attending student for the next academic year/term and received your Jamk username and password. For new students the student card usually activates on the day when your studies begin.
IF YOU ARE A CONTINUING STUDENT
You can renew your membership once you have enrolled as an attending student for the next academic year/term in Peppi.
I’M A NEW STUDENT, HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?
- Accept your offer of admission and enroll as an attending student in the national MyStudyinfo service
- Get your Jamk login credentials
- Register for JAMKO webshop in Kide.app
- Select and pay for your chosen membership option through the webshop
- If you ordered a physical student card, you will receive an email once your student card is ready and can be picked up from JAMKO office.

I’M A CONTINUING STUDENT, HOW DO I RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP?
- Ensure that you still fulfill the membership requirements.
- Enroll as an attending student in Peppi.
- Sign in to our web shop in Kide.app. You must use the same username and password you created when you first registered.
- Select and pay for your chosen membership option through the webshop
If you are using the digital student ID card, your updated membership will be updated automatically within 1-2 weeks.
If you are using a physical student ID card, your student card will be updated with a validation sticker. After you have paid your membership fee online, you can pick up your sticker at the JAMKO office. Please note, you must have your student card with you.

I AM UNABLE TO PICK UP MY STUDENT CARD / STICKER FROM THE JAMKO OFFICE. HOW CAN I GET IT?
Your student card / sticker can be mailed to you if you cannot visit the office. You can order shipping by paying the shipping fee online in Kide.app. Please note that in addition to the shipping fee, Kide.app charges a service fee of 0.5 euros.
Membership validity is checked before shipping.
After purchasing shipping, do not redeem the product yourself, because then we may not notice that we have mailed your card/sticker.
JAMKO is not responsible for the shipment after it has been handed over to Posti. Shipping is only available in Finland.
Pick up from another city
If you are a continuing member you can also pick up your validation sticker from one of our partner Students’ Unions in various cities across Finland, after paying your membership through our webshop.

HOW DO I ORDER A PHYSICAL STUDENT CARD?
Physical student card can be ordered through JAMKO webshop in Kide.app.
When joining JAMKO you can choose whether you want to obtain the membership only, including the use of the digital student card, or if you also want to order a physical student card.
If you have already paid the membership fee and want to order the physical student card, there is an option in our webshop for ordering the physical student card only (JAMKOs physical membership card without membership, price 10€ during card season sales, 15€ outside the card season sales). The card selling seasons for the separate physical student card are:
- From the beginning of June until the end of September (1.6. – 30.9.) and
- From the beginning of December until the end of February (1.12. – 28.2.).
Please note
- In order to use the digital student card, you must have a Finnish social security number and Finnish online banking credentials. Otherwise, you will need to get the physical student card.
- Students entitled to green membership (e.g. Open UAS, Study path) cannot order a physical student card through the Students’ Union for the time being. Only Kide.app’s digital student card is available to them.
HOW DO I ACTIVATE MY DIGITAL STUDENT CARD?
Instead of a physical student card or in addition to it, you can also use a digital student card.
JAMKO members are offered several different digital student card options, from which they can choose the one that suits them best, or if they wish, they can also use several options at the same time. The digital student card is activated in a mobile app. There are 2 options for digital student cards: Slice and Kide.app.
SLICE
- Go to slice.fi/upload or start the activation process of the digital student card through the email Slice has sent to you. Slice email will be sent to new members and to members, whose membership has ended before renewing their membership.
- Select JAMKO.
- Fill out the form to receive an activation code (the information you provide must match the information provided to JAMKO).
- Download the Slice app from Google Play or the App Store.
- Open the app and log in.
- Enter the username and password (activation code) you received by email.
- Accept the terms of use, as the application cannot be used without it. You can also check this in your phone’s settings.
Kide.App
You can activate your digital student card in Kide.app right after you have paid your membership fee in our web shop. In order to activate the Kide.app student card, you only need to have your JAMK login credentials for Haka authentication.
To activate your Kide.app digital student card:
- Navigate to the tab ‘student card’ in Kide.app Wallet, to activate your student card.
- Do Haka authentication.
- Upload a photo of yourself. Preview and supplement the information obtained from Haka if necessary.
HOW LONG IS MY MEMBERSHIP VALID FOR? WHEN CAN I RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP FOR THE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR/TERM?
You can choose to pay your membership fee for the current/next term, or you can pay your fee for an semester or for the entire period of your studies.
- Memberships bought in Autumn term are usually valid until the end of the following January.
- Memberships bought in Spring term are usually valid until the end of the following September.
AUTUMN TERM AND SPRING TERM MEMBERSHIP
- Membership for the next academic year and autumn term will be available on our webshop from 1st June onwards.
- Membership for the spring term will be available on our webshop from 9th of December onwards.
I’M GRADUATING AT THE END OF THE YEAR, CAN I GET THE MEMBERSHIP FOR THE ENTIRE ACADEMIC YEAR?
As per JAMKO membership requirements, a JAMKO member must be a degree student at Jamk University of Applied Sciences and enrolled as attending for the current academic year/term.
If you have graduated, your right to study has expired or you have enrolled as non-attending for the spring term, you can only get the membership for the autumn term. However, if you continue your studies in the spring, you can renew your membership for the spring term from the 1st January onwards.
As an example, if you graduate in December, you are not entitled to the spring term membership even if you paid your membership fee for the entire academic year.
Once you have graduated or discontinued your studies, you cannot use your student card anymore.
When you order your student card, you will need a portrait photo of yourself for the card. You can use any digital camera, mobile phone or webcam to take the photo.
- The photo must be in .jpg-format. The maximum size of the image file 5MB.
- The photo orientation must be vertical (passport format).
- The photo can be either in black and white or in color.
- The background and lighting of the photograph must be neutral.
- The face must be at the center of the image, and viewed straight from the front.
- No clothing or hair covering the face, no headwear.
Please note, that we may refuse to deliver your student card if the personal information (e.g. name, date of birth) on your student card does not match your ID, or if the photo is contrary to good manners or does not depict yourself. Your student card fee will not be refunded in such cases.
WHAT ARE MY LOGIN CREDENTIALS FOR JAMKO WEBSHOP IN KIDE.APP?
You may register for the JAMKO webshop in Kide.App with your Facebook credentials or you can create a separate username and password. If you are renewing your membership, you must sign in with the same username and password you used when purchasing your membership for the first time.
If you have forgotten your Kide.app username and password, please get in touch with Kide.app customer service for assistance. JAMKO staff does not have access to your login information.
CAN I PAY MY MEMBERSHIP FEE OR STUDENT CARD AT THE JAMKO OFFICE WITH CASH OR CARD?
You cannot pay for your membership or student card at the JAMKO office. All payments must be made through JAMKO webshop in Kide.app with a debit/credit card, MobilePay or via online banking (purchases over 20 euros only).
IS THERE A SEPARATE STUDENT CARD FOR STUDENTS IN PROFESSIONAL TEACHER EDUCATION, STUDY PATH STUDIES OR OPEN STUDIES?
Students of Professional teacher education, Open UAS and Study paths, as well as other students studying in non-degree programs can become members of the Students’ Union and get a digital green student card. The green student card does not entitle you to Kela, VR and Matkahuolto student discounts.
I’VE LOST MY STUDENT CARD. HOW CAN I GET A NEW CARD?
You can purchase a new student card through our webshop in Kide.app. If you have got a valid membership, you do not need to pay the membership fee again but you can just order a new card. There is an option in our webshop to purchase the card without the membership (JAMKOs physical membership card without membership, price 10€ euros during card season sales, 15€ outside the card season sales). The card selling seasons for the separate physical student card are:
- From the beginning of July until the end of September (1.7. – 30.9.) and
- From the beginning of December until the end of February (1.12. – 28.2.).
I HAVE BEEN AWAY FROM STUDIES FOR QUITE SOME TIME. DO I NEED TO GET A NEW STUDENT CARD?
You can update your existing student card with a validation sticker, if your student card was purchased after 2007. Check out the instructions for renewing your membership here
HOW DO I UPDATE MY NAME, ADDRESS OR OTHER PERSONAL DETAILS IN KIDE.APP?
- Sign in to Kide.app using the same username and password you registered with, and go to the Wallet page
- Click to open your membership detail form
- Click Edit
- Update your information on the membership form and click Save
Your details will be updated within 1-2 hours.
HOW DO I UPDATE MY PERSONAL DETAILS WITH MY FINNISH SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER IN ORDER TO ACTIVATE MY DIGITAL STUDENT CARD?
1. Sign in to Kide.app using the same username and password you registered with, and go to the Wallet page
2. Click to open your membership detail form
3. Click Edit
4. Update your information on the membership form and click Save
Your details will be updated within 1-2 hours, after which you can activate your digital student card.
WHY HAVE I NOT RECEIVED AN ORDER CONFIRMATION FOR MY STUDENT CARD?
Our webshop will send you an order confirmation email after your purchase. Please note the confirmation email will be sent to the same email address you used to register for the webshop. If you have not received a confirmation email, please check your Spam folder.
If you ordered a physical student card, you’ll receive an email to your Jamk email address once the card is ready and can be picked up from JAMKO office.
If you have renewed your membership and only need a validation sticker for your existing student card, you can pick it up as soon as you have renewed your membership through our webshop.

MY NAME HAS CHANGED, DO I NEED TO GET A NEW STUDENT CARD?
The details on your student card must match the information on your ID, so if your name has changed, you must get a new student card. You can continue to use your student card until the end of the current membership period, but you should also carry with you a document as a proof of your name change.
If your name has changed, contact Jamk Student Services first to change your name on the school record. Your information will be updated within a couple of working days.
After your information has been updated, sign in to JAMKO webshop in Kide.app to update your information on our membership record.
- Sign in to Kide.app using the same username and password you registered with, and go to the Wallet page
- Click to open your membership detail form
- Click Edit
- Update your information on the membership form and click Save
Your details will be updated within 1-2 hours. After this, you can order a new student ID card through our webshop.
I have transferred to Jamk from another UAS via the transfer student application, how do I update my student card?
Your Students’ Union membership won’t be transferred automatically when you transfer to another UAS. Please contact the Students’ Union of your previous UAS and cancel your membership. If you have paid your membership fee for several academic years in advance, you should also request a refund.
After you have transferred to Jamk you can become a JAMKO member and get a new student card through us. More information here.
I HAVE OBTAINED A STUDENT CARD THROUGH ANOTHER STUDENT UNION. CAN I PICK UP A VALIDATION STICKER FOR MY CARD FROM JAMKO OFFICE?
Your student card is a proof of Students’ Union membership at the institution you are enrolled in. If you have changed to a different institution entirely, you need to obtain a new student card through your local Students’ Union.
However, JAMKO has partnered with several other Students’ Unions across Finland to establish a joint membership record.

Please note, that before picking up your validation sticker, you must renew your membership as instructed by your own Student Union.
THE PRINT ON MY CARD HAS FADED, CAN I GET A NEW ONE?
The student card is printed with an affordable technique in order to keep the card printing expenses low. The printing is done on the card’s surface, so the picture and the text fade with time if the card is handled carelessly. The card shouldn’t be kept separately in pockets or bags, where the card could be damaged by keys and such. The card can also be broken easily if bent.
A broken or faded card can be renewed at the expense of the card holder. The printing fee of a new card is 10 euros during card season sales or 15 euros outside the card season sales. The card selling seasons for the separate physical student card are:
- From the beginning of July until the end of September (1.7. – 30.9.) and
- From the beginning of December until the end of February (1.12. – 28.2.).
