The Chairperson is responsible for JAMKO’s trusteeship work, advancing JAMKO’s interests and acting as the supervisor of the Trusteeship team. The Chairperson takes care of the implementation of JAMKO’s action plan and strategy, directs the entire Board and supports the work of the staff. The Chairperson works closely with the Vice Chairperson and the Executive Director and is the supervisor of the Executive Director. On a daily basis, various administrative and financial matters as well as the planning and development of continuous operations are on the Chairpersons desktop. The Chairperson represents students in various teams and Jamk internal working groups. They also work closely with e.g. With JYY, SAMOK and other student unions.

The Vice Cheirperson works with development of JAMKO’s services, visibility, cooperation and events. They act as a front supervisor for the services process team, planning its activities, guiding and supporting the team members. The Vice Chair is also involved in the organisation of major events and collaborates with event partners. If the Chairperson is prevented from carrying out their duties, the Vice-Chair acts as the substitue. The Vice-Chair’s role also includes various internal JAMKO events and cooperation with Study Field associations.
Educational Policy

Education Policy Responsible takes care of education policy activities, acts as part of the advocacy process team and takes care of matters related to the quality and development of education in the UAS. The work includes participation in various working groups related to the development and quality of education at Jamk. At JAMKO Education Policy Responsible handles students’ contacts related to studies and education (lack of grades, feedback and questions about the organization of education, etc.). The responsible monitors and communicates current issues in the UAS field. Educational Policy and Social Policy Responsibles work in co-operation and e.g. Grumble Weeks is organized together. The work is supported by the Communications and Trusteeship Advisor and the Guidance and Well-being Advisor.
Social Policy

The Social Policy Responsible, or sopo, is part of the advocacy team, looking after student welfare, equality and equity issues. They acts as the voice of students in various working groups on issues relating to their academic performance, health and other student-related matters. Sopo acts as a low-threshold contact for students facing challenges such as academic, welfare or discrimination issues. They monitors and reacts to decisions that affect students’ situation, such as changes in grants, housing conditions or student health care. JAMKO’s social and educational policy responsibles work together, for example by jointly organising Grumble Weeks. The work is supported by Communication and Advocacy Advisor and a Guidance and Well-being Advisor.
Peer tutoring

The Tutoring Responsible is part of the trusteeship process team and is responsible for JAMKO’s tutors that work in Finnish. The Tutoring Responsible organises the tutor recruitment, chooses the tutors, supervises and implements tutor training together with JAMKO’s Guidance and Well-being Advisor. The Tutor Responsible supervises the tutors’ activities through tutoring passports, supports them in their tasks, provides them with up-to-date information and meets them in tutoring ranks either face-to-face or online throughout the year. The Tutor Responsibles work closely together developing the tutoring in Jamk.
Exchange and degree tutoring

The Tutor Responsible in charge of exchange and degree students is part of the advocacy process team and is responsible for organizing, recruiting, training and mentoring exchange and degree tutors in English. An important part of the task is to act as a liaison for exchange and degree tutors, and to keep them up to date on current issues. The Exchange and Degree Tutoring Responsible also monitors the activities of tutors with the help of tutor passports. In addition to this, together with their own sector and tutors, they make sure that the start of studies for foreign students coming to Jamk UAS is smooth. The work is done closely with JAMK’s international office and The Guidance and Well-being Advisor. The Tutor Responsibles work closely together developing the tutoring in Jamk. The responsible participates also in organizing the Finnish Experience Week.
Communications

The Board’s Communications Responsible makes the daily activities of the student union visible, updates social media, participates in member communication, student union marketing and brand management. They support the board’s daily communication needs and plans and implements various marketing campaigns with the board and staff. The Communications Responsible leads the media team and works in closely with JAMKO’s Communications and Trusteeship Advisor. The Responsible participates closely in developing the visibility of JAMKO’s services and trusteeship.
Well-being

Well-being responsible work as part of JAMKO’s service process team (palpro) and organize various events for students. They organises a range of wellbeing and physical activity events to support students’ wellbeing. Wellbeing Week, Finnish Experience Week, and other relaxed, sober-curious, low-threshold events are part of the tasks. Maintaining and promoting physical student activity is part of the Well-being responsible’s everyday work.

Co-operation and membership

The duties of the Co-operation Responsible include e.g. developing JAMKO’s membership benefits, developing new membership benefits, finding partners, negotiating benefits, and maintaining existing partnerships. In addition to this, the Co-operation Responsible is involved in the activities of the membership marketing team and the services process team (palpro) and works with membership marketing, merch and taking care of event partners. Co-operation Responsible works closely with JAMKO’s Member Services Advisor and Executive Director.
