JAMKO adapts its operations due to Corona – pandemic

Student Union JAMKO is reshaping its activities due to the prevailing Corona situation by canceling events and moving their activities increasingly online. JAMKO follows the operating instructions of the authorities and JAMK and bases its activities during this exceptional period on their instructions.

JAMKO’s office, café and gym are closed for the time being. JAMKO Board, the chairpersons of the Representative Council and the staff are working remotely and available online. If you have any questions about JAMKO membership or other JAMKO activities, our member service advisor is be available remotely during service hours Mon – Thu 9 am – 3 pm and Fri 10 am – 2 pm. Students are recommended to start using the JAMKO electronic student card via Pivo. Exchange student Survival Kit returns are instructed directly to students who have rented the kit.

JAMKO cancels all its major events, but organizes some events remotely. For example, the Representative Council meeting, the trusteeship team and the Grumble Weeks’ follow up events are organized remotely as far as possible. More information on event arrangements will be updated on the JAMKO event page at www.jamko.fi/en/#events and Grumble Week’ follow up’s will also be announced on the intranet.

You can get The Freshmen pass stamps from remote events organized by JAMKO by announcing remotely that you want an entry in your pass. Holders of the Autumn 2019 pass can collect entries until Midterm break in autumn 2020. Those who received the pass in the spring will normally collect their stamps by the end of December. The badges can be picked up from the JAMKO office when the office is open again.

Tour operator Timetravels will cancel JAMKO’s trip to St. Petersburg due to the situation, and everyone who has bought the trip will be contacted by Tue 17.3. to arrange a refund. The status of the Lofoten trip in May will be announced later. JAMKO urges students to follow the authorities’ recommendations for travel during the corona pandemic. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and JAMK UAS recommend that traveling would be avoided and a person arriving from Finland may be quarantined for 14 days in the destination country.

Tutor trainings are not organized as a contact lecture, materials and instructions for tutor trainings are published for students in Optima. The status of the tutor camps will be announced later in Optima.
