JAMKO’s Annu Suvilehto runs for SAMOK’s board

The Student Union of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences JAMKO presents Annu Suvilehto, Chair of the Representative Council, as a member of the Board of the Union of Finnish Student Unions SAMOK ry for the year 2026. At its meeting on October 7, the Representative Council decided to give Suvilehto a mandate for her campaign. SAMOK is a national student advocacy organization consisting of 22 student unions from across Finland, representing 184,000 university of applied sciences students.

Suvilehto is a soon-to-be graduate in information and communication technology engineering from Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences and has been active in the JAMKO student union for three years, most recently as chair of the representative council. Previously, she has served on the board as tutor responsible and chair of the board. Suvilehto is applying to SAMOK because she wants to be involved in representing students’ interests at the national level as well.

Vesa Saarikoski, Rector of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, says the following about Annu: “Annu has been a key player in JAMKO at Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences in recent years. In addition to her student union activities, she has been a member of Jamk’s management team and board. It is difficult to imagine anyone with a better understanding of the university’s operations – Annu has been active, interactive, and constructive in everything she has done. She has a good understanding of education policy and particularly strong experience with international students. Hopefully, Annu will be able to use her expertise at SAMOK.

As the cherry on top, Annu is a great person to work with!”

SAMOK’s board for 2026 will be elected at the union meeting in Seinäjoki on October 31.
