Decide on students’ affairs at JAMKO! Run for the Representative Council!

The student union’s affairs are decided by the students. The Representative Council, which is elected from Jamk’s students in the November elections, decides how we manage student affairs at Jamk. The Representative Council decides, among other things, on the amount of the student union’s membership fee, the action plan and other major policies of JAMKO. The work of the Representative Council is based on each member’s experience as a student. Everyone surely has an idea of what works in our higher education community and where JAMKO should direct its resources.

“A sure sign of autumn is the Representative Council elections. This year, we want to emphasize that even though we study different fields, we at JAMKO have the same direction and we influence together in our university. That is why the slogan of the elections is familiar to many, We are all in this together,” says Lauri Kujala, chairperson of the Central Election Committee, a nursing student.

The nomination period is 28.8. – 30.9. All Jamk’s students who have joined JAMKO for the academic year 2025 – 2026 can stand as candidates. A candidate can join an electoral alliance, i.e. usually a group formed by an educational organisation or a political student organisation, the votes of which improve the chances of an individual candidate getting through. You can also stand as a candidate as an independent candidate. Electoral alliances and electoral rings can be formed as early as 27 August.

More information and forms for standing as a candidate and forming alliances can be found on JAMKO’s election website.

The voting period is 27.10. – 5.11.
