Theater club opens JAMKO club activities
JAMKO will launch club activities at the beginning of 2026 with the aim of creating independent and meaningful leisure activities for the Jamk community.
The first official club, a theater club, will start in January. Club members will get to do different theater expression exercises together and work on a short play to be performed in late spring. Club founders Pinja Putkonen and Henna Ullgren are really looking forward to the club starting.
“It’s wonderful to be able to do theater stuff again after such a long time. The club started when we realized that there was a gap in our lives that theater could fill and we wanted to do it in a way that suited our student lives, without having to commit to many hours of rehearsals every week. We hope to find people who are as excited about theater as we are <3,” say the club leaders.
All Jamk students and staff members can start their own club. Clubs operate as independent communities under JAMKO, with the aim of providing diverse and meaningful leisure activities to balance studies. If you have an interest that you would like to share with others, you can start your own club and receive support from JAMKO. Read more on the JAMKO website.
The student union is involved as a co-implementer in the Higher Education Community on the Move project which aims to promote community spirit throughout the university. The project will enable club activities to be piloted and launched at Jamk. JAMKO project worker Eeva Vissel says she is excited about the coming spring and the start of club activities. “There is a clear need for clubs. Student life needs affordable and accessible ways to spend free time and students need to find communities and same minded people around them.” The project is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture and will continue until the end of May.
