JAMKO is buiding a moving and thriving higher education community in Jyväskylä

JAMKO is part of The Jyväskylä Universities on the Move and Thrive project. The aim of the project is to strengthen the sports culture of the Jyväskylä University Group and to increase students’ physical activity, well-being and sense of community. The project will be implemented during the period 1.8.2026-31.7.2027.

JAMKO’s role in the project is to design and pilot a joint course for the university consortium in collaboration with uMove. “This course will promote physical activity, well-being, connection with nature and a sense of community. Hopefully this will help many students discover a new sport or find a group to join,” says Eeva Vissel, a project worker at JAMKO. Through this project, JAMKO also organizes community events and gatherings in collaboration with study field associations and clubs.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The project is coordinated by Jamk and in addition to JAMKO, the University of Jyväskylä / uMove is also involved as a co-implementer. In addition, the project partners are Liikunnan Riemu ry and the Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä JYY.
