What is this new FSHS cooperation network?
The FSHS Board has decided to create cooperation networks to replace the regional executive committees and as a new form of regional cooperation for the FSHS.
The change regarding the regional boards became necessary when, as part of the new FSHS organizational reform, they abolished the five operational regions that had previously existed. This change and the new FSHS organizational model, based on nationwide service provision, took effect on March 1, 2026.
The areas of responsibility for the new cooperation networks have been defined according to higher education institutions (by main campus).
What do the new cooperation networks do, and what are their objectives?
Objectives set by the FSHS for the new networks:
- To establish and maintain local FSHS cooperation between higher education communities and well-being regions.
- Generate shared understanding, common solutions, and development ideas for the FSHS’s regional needs and operations.
- Share best practices among different higher education communities on topics related to FSHS students’ health and well-being, for example, by highlighting health working groups.
- Share information related to the FSHS’s general operations (evidence-based discussion, e.g., statistics, access to care, regional differences).
- Strengthen the Foundation’s OTE work and related cooperation among all Finnish higher education institutions within the FSHS network.
- Engage in open dialogue while strengthening the FSHS’s stakeholder cooperation.
Regional networks also have the right to submit initiatives (such as development proposals and ideas) regarding the Foundation’s overall operations to the Executive Director and, subsequently, to the Foundation’s Board for consideration.
Representatives from each network’s respective areas of operation are invited to join the new cooperation network:
- from higher education institutions (1 per institution)
- student unions (1 per student union)
- well-being regions within their jurisdiction (1 per well-being region)
