JAMKO REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL ELECTED FOR 2027

A new Representative Council has been elected for Student Union JAMKO for the 2027 term. A total of 2,204 members were eligible to vote, and 210 JAMKO members cast their votes in the elections, resulting in a voter turnout of 9.53%. This was a decrease from last year’s turnout of 14.22%. Most student unions at Finnish universities of applied sciences share the same official election day, which this year was November 4.

“Voter turnout was lower than last year, raising questions about students’ current willingness to participate and get involved. Nevertheless, we have elected a diverse Representative Council, and we have great confidence in its work,” says Artturi Martynov, Chair of the Central Election Committee.

A total of 32 candidates participated in the JAMKO elections, with eight electoral alliances and seven independent candidates.

Henna Vuorinen from sosiaali- ja terveysalan opiskelijat electoral alliance received the highest number of individual votes, with 22 votes.

The new Representative Council will hold its constitutive meetings on Nov 30 – December 1, during which the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Representative Council and JAMKO’s Board will be elected. The composition of the Representative Council may still change if any of its members are elected to the Board. The Representative Council has 17 full member seats. Up to 25 alternate representatives may be elected, and 15 alternates were elected in this year’s elections. The final composition of the Representative Council will be confirmed after the constitutive meeting.
