The Student Union JAMKO is there for you student. The main mission of the Student Union is to supervise that as students our rights are taking into account in activities and in decision-making process in the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, JAMK. Another important aspect of our activities is to make sure that the students enjoy while studying. Do you want to affect JAMKO’s actions? There are plenty of ways – you can stand as a candidate to representatives or the board of JAMKO. You can also join our teams, like International Club etc.

How to join?

New students:

Make sure you have an electric picture of yourself in .jpg-form (minimum of 201x295 pxls, max file size 100kt). The picture must be a pass picture kind of portrait. If you don’t have the opportunity to have the picture as detailed above, you can take your picture at JAMKO’s office or JAMKO’s member service points.
Join as member in www.jamko.fi. Click the banner “Get your student card via internet”. You’ll need the picture for the card, so make sure you have it at this point.
Make the payment by the index number that you get from the joining site or pay your membership at JAMKO’s service points.

Old members of JAMKO:

Join as member in www.jamko.fi. Click the banner “Get your student card via internet”. You can make the payment right away by the index number that you get from the joining site or at JAMKO’s service points.
You will get the new sticker from JAMKO’s service points by showing the receipt.

THE ELECTION FOR THE JAMKO BOARD OF REPRESENTATIVES IS COMING!

ELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT

If you want to become a member of the representatives of JAMKO, the registration as a candidate begins 3^rd of September and ends 5^th of October at 9:00 a.m. Election for the student representatives of JAMKO will be carried out on the 5th of November. The absentee vote will be carried out on 26^th – 28^th of October.

The voting is carried out via an internet based voting system. On the last day of the absentee vote 28^th of October 9:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m and on the actual Election Day 5^th of November 9:45 a.m to 1.15 p.m, students can get help in using the internet voting system in the following places:

- Main campus (Rajakatu 35)

- School of Health and Social Care (Keskussairaalantie 21)

- School of Information Technology (Piippukatu 2)

- School of Cultural Studies/music (Pitkäkatu 18-22)

All the members of the Student Union JAMKO are eligible to become members of the representative as long as they have enrolled for attendance for the academic year 2009-2010 in the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. The language used in the representative meetings is Finnish. To become a candidate for the election, a member has to fill in a specific form. Form has to be returned to the office of JAMKO, Rajakatu 35 40200 Jyväskylä (maincampus). The forms can be printed out from the JAMKO website www.jamko.fi.

Candidates can also create an electoral alliance. When creating an alliance, a charter has to be filled out.

25 representative members and 25 debuty members are chosen in the election.
